River looked so much like DiCaprio in this movie
A younger DiCaprio (ala Titanic). They even had the same furrowed brow thing going on. :P

share...the haircut was a bit like 'this boy's life' as well
shareI believe that both of them were very much a like. Not so much the looks maybe but as actors. They seem to have the same thoughts on acting and DiCaprio ended up playing two roles that Phoenix was intended to play/expressed interest in, the poet in Total Eclipse and Jim Caroll in Basketball diaries.
Being part of Leomania during the late 90's I can't imagine how it must have felt for the Phoenix fans in 93 when he died. So heartbreang.
Both of them were/are outstanding actors and unfortunately we didn't get to see what phoenix would have grown into like we did with Dicaprio.

very similar actors. I miss River.
I can't see it at all.
shareIt's the other way around, buddy!
Originally River was supposed to do Romeo and Juliet and Total Eclipse, not Dicaprio. Half of Dicaprio's and Pitt's career wouldn't exist if it wasn't for River's death. Dicaprio even adopted River's love for animals and the environment to promote himself as a "nice guy" but of course it's not genuine.
River was also going to do The Basketball Diaries and apparently he was who James Cameron had in mind for the role of Jack in the Titanic. A lot of male actors should be grateful for River. He was the original vegan environmentalist in Hollywood and he was an actor with a penchant for gritty indie roles, which many male actors today have adopted. He paved the way for them.
