I had Deceived running on HBO this morning in the background, and heard a woman talking. It took me several minutes to recognize the voice, but it's clear as a bell. Kate Reid is the woman scientist in Andromeda Strain from 1971. When I saw her, it was hard to recognize her face because it seems she lost a good deal of weight. Nice to know my ears haven't lost it!

Kate Reid is one of the finest character actors who even lived. She was wonderful in everything she ever done. Stage and screen. She played Willie Loman's longsuffering wife in the Tv production of Death of a Salesman and she was wonderful as Natalie Wood's mother in This Property is Condemned.. and like Shirley Booth, Eileen Heckart and Thema Ritter.. Terrific
