Plot Hole

When the Goldie Hawn character goes to her husband's mother's house and the mother had just been killed, why doesn't she ever ask where the mother is?

reply

Well, she just met her dead husband. Had something else on her mind.

Yes, it is not nice to rile up a person who has just "slipped into someone else's life like a hermit crab". That person is quite unstable, and probably willing to kill to hush up any questions. Better to play along. Just assume the old gal went out for some J and B and some Lucky Strikes.

Exactly

Let's add that one to the list

I thought the exact, same thing. She goes over there because the woman calls and says it's urgent, then she gets there, sees her "dead" husband and completely forgets that his mother asked for her in the first place?

Plus the door to her room was open. She's lying dead in there and Goldie never thinks to peek in? Never once asks, "Where's your mother?" I know she's probably in shock but she was suspicious of him in the first place. The last 40 minutes of this film constitute a messy disaster.

completely agreed

Well, the old friend mentioned that his mom used to work at the toll booth. I always wondered why they didn't have Adrian ask in that scene as well. But I figured that she may have assumed the mom was at work or out for smokes and a little drinky-drinky like someone else posted. :)

Especially since the mother very much disliked her son. It's just weird she did not wonder what he was doing there of all places.
