Toby-dog
I notice that alot of the fans of this memorable four-part series are of similar age to myself (30) and it would seem that at around 10 years of age when "Chimera" was first broadcast were all at a perfect age to have been moved and inevitably terrified for many years to come - I certainly was. In fact nothing since then has come close to scaring me quite like Chad and his murderous rampage.
Anywho, my post was simply to ask if anyone else has noticed the behaviour of the dear old collie dog at Raven's Crag that appears to go missing (surely not the work of our ill-fated monkey anti-hero?!) shortly before Chad does away with the farmer and his wife. The dog can be seen in the couple scenes when George Costigan first arrives on the farm and has a look around (cue more disconcerting, grunting shots from Chad's persepective) and is described by the farmer as being "soft as buggery" (is buggery a "soft" act?!) The dog seems to move its head at a funny angle and looks a little confused and bewildered. My girlfriend described it as looking like a stroke victim!!!
It struck me seeing how these scenes were shot on a real working farm, that maybe the dog was a real farm dog that though clearly very old and useless, at least as a working dog, seemed to fit in wandering around in a world of its own while they were shooting and wandered in and out of scenes relatively unnoticed.
What if everyone started telling the truth?
