What would Ricky have done?

Assuming Ricky never got killed do you think he would have joined the military or gone on to play college football.

My guess is he would have played college football at USC. He probably only viewed the military as an option because he didn't think his test scores would be high enough to get into college. Plus, he could always join the military after college.

Plays at junior college before transferring to mid-major program like San Jose State. Injures knee and than decides to enroll in the Navy.

Gotten his scholarship, then flunked out of college within a year because he wasn't bright enough. Then joined the Army

reply

He scored 710 on his SAT's when he needed a 700, so he made it in, he was going to college if he didn't get murdered.

But he wouldn't have stayed in college. Just didn't have the smnarts

reply

Ricky's abysmally low SAT score didn't mean that he lacked "smnarts." Plenty of people panic when faced with a standardized tests and they aren't all athletes.

I think Ricky would have gone to USC on a football scholarship and played for three years. He might have left for the NFL after his junior year or redshirted his freshman year. If he did have any academic problems the coach would have found a tutor for him.

The fact he wa thinking of joining the army instead of taking the SATs pretty much attested to his lack of smarts.

reply

Not really. He was a teenage parent and the Army would not have been a bad option to take care of a family, all things considered. What would be the drawback? Getting shot and killed?

reply

It wasn't that he wasn't smart he was more gullible than anything buying into that army ad on T.V, he fell in love.

reply

He scored over 700 so he fulfilled the academic requirements. He would have played at USC.

reply

Until he flunked out

reply

Well, I think he probably might've joined the military after not being great enough to turn pro.
1991 was a different time, yet history/hindsight show there really wasn't much warfare ongoing with Americans for him to perish I'd say (too soon for him being joined for Desert Storm which was quick in of itself).
He would not have died some hero on a battlefield, he might've ended up local high school football coach, maybe even in a better neighbourhood through USC connections.
