Didn't Ricky share some blame for his own death?

He knew how dangerous the Bloods were after living in South Central his whole life. Yet after running from the gang members in the car, he totally blew it off like it was no big deal. Not only did he start casually walking up the alley, he was actually scratching off lottery game tickets.

If he had taken it more seriously like Tre had urged him to do, the two of them could have easily avoided the gang members and gotten back home.

Agreed. The dumbest thing anyone can do in a situation like that is say "let's split up."

I don't think "blame" is really the right word to use, but I agree Ricky wasn't particularly smart and it was consistent with his character throughout the movie.

I agree about the word "blame." Ricky made the wrong move, but the only blame is for the punks who shot him.

Plus Ricky was trying to protect Tre when he said they should split up realizing that though the Bloods were after him that if Tre were with him when they happened upon them they would have probably shot Tre as well.

The whole thing really is Ricky's fault. If he didn't make the blood's guy running into him at that hang-out a big deal in the first place, none of this would have ever happened.
Of course Doughboy perpetuated the whole fiasco, but Ricky started the whole thing. They even had the guys talking in the car, "There's the guy who was talking *beep* (something like that).

Even though Ricky didn't look like a gangster and was always trying his best (compared to his brothers), he still had a lot of negative influence and his mother was no saint either. It was unfortunate. Having a real father like Tre's father would have been a great help, but that's a rarity in society. This film even shows that fact. It also shows that having a great father doesn't always work. Tre's father almost lost his boy the same night. He just barely gave him enough wits and guilt.

Ricky didn't make Ferris run into him. Ferris only did that trying to make Ricky out to be a punk and have Ferris prove how tough he thought he was by punking a kid half his age. Of course we saw in the end what a cry baby bitch Ferris was when Doughboy had the gun pointed at him.

Yes. Ricky just didn't take the threat seriously. Also, how stupid are you to take a leak when you're being hunted. Get the F home.

What is that thing you're using?.... It's technical.
