Much to my surprise, Billy Bathgate is in fact available on Blu-ray! But only as part of a 2-pack with the Paul Newman film Blaze.

shareyeah. I was so happy when I saw it at FIY. I bought it for only $3.97. it's amazing how cheap that blu ray movies are getting. I'm hoping all blu rays will be about 7 dollars soon. maybe with 4K they will be. such a great film. great performances, authentic and real settings, clothes, accents, way of acting, etc. it really looks and feels like 1935 New York.
I've never seen a performance better than Dustin Hoffman's in this film. he's so thrilling, captivating, extraordinary, realistic, hypnotic, charismatic, and lovable in his evil, wicked, bad character. I've never liked a bad character in a good movie that is not a horror movie any more than his performance. Nicole Kidman also gives a great performance. she was so lovely, beautiful, realistic, tantalizing, hypnotic, and totally believable as her character. the whole ensemble does a really good job. the locations are realistic. the dark moods and atmosphere is great and really realistic. the story is captivating. and it's an entertaining film. 5.9 is way too low. imdb should give this film an 8.2 rating.
Got that double feature Blu-Ray for a mere $3 at Dollarama. Both are pretty good movies. I think I like this one more, though.
