history could be altered
Since DeNomolos got arrested.
shareEverything about time-travel is an impossible paradox.
Take the grandfather-paradox: If you went back in time to kill your grandpa before your dad was conceived, he wouldn't create you, hence you wouldn't be able to travel back in time.
That, plus any sub-atoms motion moved from it's original (Destined) path/trajectory would result in a grave cosmic change (Imagine a ginormous pool-table with millions of trillions of balls. One hit's another, another hits others and so on, etc).
That means, if you would somehow be able to travel back in time, and that alone without affecting the future (Which per say is impossible, as explained in it self, as well as above). If you then were to, say kill an ant, you'd changed the entire world, since that ant filled some function. Either killed another insect, got eaten, helped the queen with her shopping-bag or whatever. These little tiny things does matter.
There's yet any movies to take these things into consideration. There's been a few attempts by creating some form of time-bubble to shield if from alternate future changes, but, still the facts remains. You cannot alter the future without changing the past, and have you changed the past, you're altering the future.
Take Terminator, although they're good, they're so damn impossible, it's actually annoying really.
So, everything about time-travel would end in an impossible paradox in other words.
If I'm rambling here, it's because I'm tired, so sorry for that.
Top of every forum:"View: ... | ... | ... | nest" <-Choose "nest"!!
Yep.
shareNot in this (these) movie(s). It's the Lost paradigm, "whatever happened, happened" (also popularized by Stephen Hawking). De Nomolos always travelled to the past and was instrumental in getting the boys famous. They always did an amazing history report vis a vis the bunch of historics. Death always became an integral member of their band.
Despite the stupidity/naivete/ignorance (original meaning) of the two main characters, this is one of the most intelligent time travel films ever made, because at no point in either film does an alternate universe emerge or things don't follow the logical Hawkingesque pattern. It's very excellent in that regard.
most excellent dude
shareHooray! At least one person I don't have to explain self consistent time travel to. :D
The only part I disagree on is where you suggest Bill and Ted are stupid. They're actually shockingly smart. They're just really lazy.

They probally knew Denomalus would get arrested before he went back in time since Rufus said you wont get away with this and denomolus says time will tell and rufus says time has told
shareExactly. Which is a HUGE clue to the self consistent universe the movie operates in. "Time has told" is this movies version of Lost's "Whatever happened, happened." Rufus, in a single throwaway line perfectly explains how time travel works.
Prof. Farnsworth: Oh. A lesson in not changing history from Mr. I'm-My-Own-Grandpa!
No it can't. "Time has told." Nothing can happen differently than what we see.
