About Budnick

Did anyone else notice some similarities in behavior and mannerisms between Budnick and Jay (from Jay and Silent Bob)?

reply

not really since i first heard of jay from dtng last year

Mickey is a mouse, Donald is a duck, Pluto is a dog. What's Goofy...?

reply

Isn't Goofy a dog too?

reply

He cant be a dog he wears a hat and drives a car.

reply

He is a dog...That can talk and drive a car. They never really explained why, but Him, his son Max, and their neighbor Pete and his son P.J. are all dogs. I think they even had a joke about it in "Goofy Movie 2" trailers where one of the characters would say "What up dog?" or something like that. They have a lot of weird things like that. Like the fact that a mouse (Mickey) is the same size as a duck (Daffy) or dog (Goofy & Pluto). Or that Minnie is a mouse that has a pet cat.

reply

Pete is not a dog ... he's a cat. Look at his ears.

reply

he is a dog

reply

You're an idiot...He's a dog..That is why he has the short tail. Also Boston terriors and other breeds of dogs have short ears...You don't know what you are talking about...Besides on the old, old, cartoon shorts where Donald Duck and Pete were neighbors...Donald in the mist of his inaudible cursing called Pete a "Mangey Mutt" (sp)...

For some reason, I decided to look this up:

It wasn't until he'd become Mickey's recurring foe that Pete's species was decided. At first, he could have been anything from a grizzly bear to, as at least one critic has suggested, a tailless rat. (And in fact, in the Lantz cartoons, he was more-or-less a bear.) But Mickey Mouse's bad guy just naturally had to be a cat. Once settled, he remained a cat even when played against Donald Duck.

Goofy is a dog, since his original characterization was "Dippy Dog" until they settled on his current characterization of Goofy. Pete is a cat, since he was the foil for Mickey Mouse back then.

Hehe I was rewatching SYS recently and he reminded me of Jay, too... A younger and more tame Jay.

reply

After watching it again last week for the first time in years, that's the first thing I thought. He somewhat looks like Jay when he's younger with that mullet too...

Pete is a cat. Look at his daughter Pistol. They are obviously cats. Look at the mouth and nose. It's close to the face.

Wait a minute. What the hell is Goofy?

Yea, I can kinda see the similarities. The way they talk/act. But they're totally different characters. One is a badass, trouble-maker who doesn't play by the rules, the other is a stoner/dealer who needs to get laid. They're probably both doing jersey accents/mannerisms though.

If budnick smoked a lot of weed after going back to jersey, and dyed his hair blonde then I guess he could grow up to be jay. I think budnick grew up to either be a janitor or goto jail for robbing liquor stores though...he's my hero.

Probably. Another possibility is maybe he actually got ahead in life, due to the fact that on the show he frequently demonstrated a talent for manipulating people into doing what he wanted. He could have used that to get into politics!

He got rich in the dot.com boom, using sponge as his VP.
