90's Nick Stars

Salute Your Shorts and Pete and Pete had such a huge influence on me growing up. They were my favorite shows in the 90's. I didn't know how much I loved them until seeing them again recently after 15 or so years. I got my copy from someone off of ioffer.com. A lot of sellers have a lot of nick classics for sell there and in pretty good condition, the best until we get a dvd release.

Anyways, I loved Salute Your Shorts growing up. When I saw the episodes for the first time this week, I couldn't believe I remembered every episode. I didn't realize it wasn't on for long and there wasn't that many episodes, so they were reran often on Nick back then, and that's why I remembered.

I definitely see a difference in quality of entertainment from then and now. The kids on these shows were so natural. They weren't over-acting like so many today. There was a innocence with a little naughtiness.

We all knew someone in life when we were kids like Dina, Donkeylips, Budnick, Michael, Pinsky, Sponge, Telly, and Z.Z. The show was so relateable. How many of us knew someone like them in school or in summer camp. I don't even think kids go to camp anymore in the summer.

My favorite character was Dina. She was the original "mean girl," stuck-up, conceited, shallow, self-centered, but you could tell in a small way, she had a a heart, that she seem somewhat afraid to show.

It's so surprising to me how most of the 90's Nick stars didn't become bigger stars, but yet Nick and Disney are pushing certain kids down our throat and promoting them to hell, most of whom didn't even have half the talent of the 90's Nick stars.

The whole cast of Salute Your Shorts should have went far. Mike Maronna and Danny Tamberelli from Pete and Pete should have went far. If as kids they were so natural, genuine, and had much depth playing their roles, just think how they would had been as adult actors. I think Nick just kicked them to the curb after their shows ended, instead of putting someone in new shows, or at least helping them make the transition into being adult stars.

I could go on and on, but I just hate to see people who actually had talent not as big of stars as the stars we have today, and their not that great. It's all about image now and days, not talent. That's why we should never forget our kid stars, who truly represented what it means to be a star.
