Michael, or Pinsky?
I, personally, am a Pinsky man. Thoughts?
shareMichael. He was the nice guy counter part to Budnick. Pinksy tried too hard and was too much like Budnick.
shareExactly.
Michael was usually the "straight man"/"comic foil" in this show. At least at first he was the auidence and we were him. Personally the show was just never the same once Michael left.
The show could only handle one Budnick and Pinsky was just too much like Budnick.
"You've shown your quality sir. The very highest."
Michael and Pinskey were both dry characters who weren't very funny.
shareOf course. While sometimes the "straight man" in comedy can actually be funny, they're usually the person who assists in providing the laughs, sometimes if only by grounding the auidence in how "normal" they are compared to some of the more wacky characters.
Pinskey was dry and wasn't very funny, but not because he was the "straight man" in the show's dynamic.
"You've shown your quality sir. The very highest."
I used to think Pinskey was the coolest kid on the planet when I was little
shareI like Pinsky. He reminds me of some people I went to high school with. Had the series lived I think they would have wrote more episodes involving him.

Micheal, and i agree with thats the only reason i dont like Pinksky because he was trying to much to be like Budnick. I dont like when they have characters that try to be the same. i like Micheal because he was almost the total opposite of Budnick.
shareMichael all the way, pinsky was subpar
"in a thousand years there will be no men or women, just wankers"
Michael all the way. I had a huge crush on Erik MacArthur when I was a kid, I loved him on the show.
"Nobody puts Baby in a corner."
Pinksy. Micheal was a really boring guy.
shareMichael had zero personality. Pinsky was mischievous, to be sure, but he really forced Budnick to bring his A-game. And Pinsky wasn't like Budnick at all. He found pleasure in his schemes, and was never out to hurt anyone. Budnick was all anarchy and no heart (except when he fell for Dina, of course).
shareMichael!!
I didn't hate Pinsky, I just preferred Michael's character. I agree with some of the others, Pinsky tried too hard to be Budnick.
Michael . . .
He was a PERFECT foil to Budnick the first season (and it was cool to see them start to get along in "Budnick and Michael Fake Being Sick").
Pinsky IMO was a hybrid character . . good guy like Michael, but sneaky/snarky like Budnick.
Plus overall, I thought the first season was better. Interesting to note in the second season, Budnick ditched the mullet for longer hair and started wearing more flannel shirts (perhaps a sense of perfect timing as the second season was in the summer of '92 when grunge was big).
