If summer camp was really like this...
Then god damn I wish I went to summer camp as a kid. Hell even now I do. All they did was hang out in their huge bunks and goof off all summer. Beats my childhood summers of watching tv.

This show actually reminded me of all those British boarding school drams, though obviously yankee-fied, with a much looser setting (it was sleepaway camp, not primary education) and a goofy excuse for an authority figure.
You got ten seconds to go or Daddy's gonna nail it to the chair- The Loved Ones
Mine wasn't like that... or maybe it was and I was just too uptight and socially awkward to really let loose and enjoy myself. That's probably what it was.
You saw Dingleberries?
It wasn't.
I remember my first day of camp at some hell hole called Camp Kelly in Georgia.
As I was crossing a rope bridge a kid camp counselor (who ironically resembled Bobby Budnick) yelled at me, "Hey, a--face!" I turned around. "YEAH, YOU! A--FACE!" Two other guys near him laughed.
He was maybe 13. I was 7. Fun times.
I now date women who are 10 years younger than I, but at that age a 6 year difference seemed like 30.
Later after a mandatory swim I returned to the shack where we put clothes. Someone had rubbed my underwear in dirt. It was totally coated.
I never returned to it-- one of the rare times when I successfully defied my parents' desires. When I think about these things it also reminds me of why I hated to be a child because I had 0 autonomy during those years, and I knew it.
Mine was.
Why this show will always be in my memory.
