Which sister do you like better?
Beatrice or Evangeline?
I prefer Bea because she's more sensible and more Victorian-- so more like me, I suppose. :)

I really couldn't pick one over the other.
I like them as a pair - precisely because they were so "complementary".
It was such a great series!
I think I liked Bea more too..She had her head on straight.
Evangeline was very passionate (a good thing), but she made some very bad decisions.
Not only was Beatrice a swift pain in the a$$, she was a bad actress, to boot! I was waiting for her to have the 'vapors' at any minute..
She was a constant complainer..no wondered she wasn't married! Whine, whine, whine!
Stella Gonet, the "actress", was married to Nicholas Farrell, the wimp who portrayed Teddy Bingham in "Jewel in the Crown"..they certainly were made for each other! Both are AWFUL!
"If you can make a girl laugh, you can make her do anything!"....
What did she do? Kick your dog?
'Come along Horace, wave to the Turnips. You might get into Parliament...'
I think I have to choose Beatrice.
Yes, it's true! IMDB has reached Sweden!
In the early episodes, I preferred Evangeline. I think she had a more interesting storyline and I enjoyed her scenes more. Beatrice's storyline seemed to only be about feeling bitterness toward her father. But once Beatrice and Jack started falling in love, I became much more interested in Bea's story arc.
I think though, that my preference shifted a bit back and forth. But ultimately, by the end of the series, I didn't care much for Evangeline anymore. She never really said or did anything of substance. I found her extremely frivolous and superficial.
I think Stella Gonet is a much better actress than Louise Lombard. Gonet also possesses much more poise, grace and elegance. Throughout the series Lombard walks like a lumberjack!
I'm also reminded of the scene in The Princess Diaries, when the queen/Julie Andrews critiques her granddaughter's poise and deportment, esp. the way she walks. LOL, I want Julie Andrews to give Evie some lessons too!
Evangeline in the early episodes but Beatrice over the whole series. She's more conservative with the business, realistic, level headed, etc. Evie started becoming selfish and bitchy.

in the beginning i liked evangeline the best. She was sweet and open minded. Bea just bitched about everything, was bitter, and so uptight that she could have had a carrot shoved up her a$$.
But Bea became more openminded and mellow through the years thanks to Jack.
From the moment Evie came back from Paris i didn't like her anymore. She was supposed to have become this very modern, openminded and worldwise lady, but i thought she just became very arrogant.
Like in series 3, when she met Larry for the first time, she didn't even listen to what he had to say just because he had too much pommade in his hair. How is THAT being openminded?

Beatrice. I liked her more from beginning to end. I prefer the sensible type. I liked the younger sister too but not as much as Bea.
shareI really loved Evie the entire way through seasons 1 and 2. But by season 3 I was really fed up of her selfishness and bitchiness towards pretty much everyone. She was constantly moaning at Beatrice for making necessary business decisions, yet she never took it upon herself to share in the burden of responsibility. In the earlier seasons she was young and inexperienced but by the third season she had no excuse not to be responsible. Instead she chose to continue gadding about and drawing pretty pictures whilst leaving all the dirty work to Beatrice.
Not to mention her string of unsuitable douchebag beaus that made Scarlett O'Hara look like a nun by comparison. It's like, we get it, Evie is young and attractive and ahead of her time. Would it have killed the writers to give her a husband who wasn't a sulky one-dimensional character with a massive chip on his shoulder? Daniel's ONLY plus point was his good looks and the only thing he and Evie had in common was playing with paintbrushes. All they did was argue and kiss. Not a great basis for a marriage. Even Arthur would've been better than Daniel!!
Then there's the business about Evie wanting to swan off to Paris but expecting everyone at the House of Eliott to keep everything exactly HER way even though she wouldn't be there. She acted like Beatrice, Jack and Joseph had committed this huge act of betrayal when actually she was the one who flipped them the bird and said bye I'm moving to Paris with my pointless husband, have fun maintaining my cash cow whilst I'm gone and don't dare make any changes because that would be really selfish of you. She acted like a spoiled child who didn't want her toy anymore but didn't want anybody else to play with it either.
Soooo... in summary: Beatrice!! She's obviously a different kind of beauty to Evie (which is ironic because back in those days, Beatrice's looks would've been considered more fashionable and desirable than Evie's) and she has a much colder demeanour, but when all's said and done she's the person who got both Evie and the House of Eliott off the ground and kept them afloat. And the storyline of Beatrice and Jack was a delight to watch unfold.
The mirror... it's broken.
Yes, I know. I like it that way. Makes me look the way I feel.
Having seen this show quite recently I have to say Evangeline, first and most of all because the actress did much better job bringing her character to life and giving it some depth and intensity. I liked Beatrice in the beginning but then from S02 onwards she turned into quite cold, calculated cardboard cutout and ultimately I didn't even care what happens to her while I was always eager to find out what will happen to Evie. She gradually took over the show and never let the audience go.
I could have easily imagined he playing a role of an intense female artist in a movie if someone was making quality movies in UK of that time.
