No. It was and remains a great comedy. Most shows don't last anywhere near 8 seasons, especially 24+ episode seasons.
Reading a lot of the anti-Jill threads here, IMO the people are over-analyzing the show.

This show was great through 6 seasons. There was a noticeable drop-off in season 7, and season 8 was just weak overall compared to earlier seasons.
Kind of hoping this question is a joke, because Jill was obviously an important part of the show. In fact, I would recommend reviewing season 6 if you have a problem with Jill. She was smoking hot in season 6.
Just to be clear, season 8 was missing a key character. Jonathan Taylor Thomas decided to leave the show very suddenly. I think that this "threw off" the cast and the writers who obviously had plans for the entire cast/"family". By this point the WERE a family, having worked and grown up together for 7 years.
Much of the comedic nature of the show involved Jonathan who was a master of comoc timing.
Bottom line it shouldnt come as s surprize that his absence hurt the show AND it was a sho that, as any sitcom, was "aging".
I believe that Tim. had he known in advance of Jonathans departure, would have chosen to end the show at the conclusion of 2007.
Anyway, as to addressing the theme of this thread; I dont blame Pat. She was playing a character on a show. Its clear that there was a change/growth of the characters over the course of the show and I believe that was very much intended. The true nature of the show was male perspective vs female perspective. In this cast it was a female in a house full of men/young men.
Tim went on to do last Man Standing which completely reversed this scenario.
I related to the theme of HI much better.
Yes.
There is a man...he travels fast...he has purpose...he brings violence and destruction.
She didn't ruin the show. Home Improvement is one of my favorite shows and I love the Tim and Jill dynamic. When she was wrong, she admitted it. Remember the episode when she stayed up all night painting the hot rod? I guess you guys just want to see a submissive or subservient wife who was never portrayed as right and who never stood up to her husband. Tim and Jill had a healthy back and fourth.
There were times she was wrong, like when she almost broke up the marriage of Randy's classmate. (lol). and she is repentant. There
were also plenty of times when Tim
was acting like an idiot because
that's the character he created. That's what he thought was funny. He is a comedian, not a social commentator. If it offends you to see a man being portrayed as dumber than his wife, this show isn't for you. He thought it would be funny for his wife to be far more mature, responsible and intelligent than his character. That's the show. No, Patricia Richardson didn't do it. She wasn't the boss. Tim Allen made that call along with the mostly male writers and producers.
