Final season of Nickelodeon version never picked up?

According to tv.com, it says that they planned on doing one more season of the Nickelodeon version (also 13 episodes), but those final 13 episodes were never picked up. Is that true?

I'm not entirely sure, but I read that the maximum number of seasons Nickelodeon would allow any series to do was 5 (prior to changing that rule in the late 90's when they ordered more Rugrats episodes).

One article I read said that Nickelodeon kind of put Doug on hiatus, letting time elapse before ordering new episodes...and Jim Jinkins took that as a sign they weren't going to do it and shopped the show around (before Disney bought Jumbo Pictures and then ordered him to produce a new version of the show to get around copyright issues).

Another had Jinkins quoted as saying Nickelodeon simply didn't pick up the option, and he thought it may have simply been a cost issue.

Maybe there's a way to get in touch with Vanessa Coffey (executive producer of the first 4 nicktoons) and find out what happened.
