If The Beets were real, would they be a good band?

yea or no?

The Beats are an awesome throwback to classic rock. They remind me more of the Rolling Stones than the Beatles, though, musically-speaking. I would definitely buy their album.

I guess technically, they are real. I've always wondered who did what for their songs, though. The music in the show in the credits is credited to Fred Newman and Dan Sawyer, but I know Billy West was a musician before he got into voice acting, so I've always wondered if he got involved in the music creation aspect at all.

If they were trying to sell novelty songs. I mean come on "Killer Tofu"? "Where's My Sock?" The songs they did were just intended to be humorous not to be taken seriously.

What the heck is "Where's My Sock?" I've never heard a Beats song with that title. It's either made up, or it's from the Disney version.

Yeah, the lyrics are supposed to be silly...but that's not what people are referring to in wondering what they'd be like as a real life band. The music aspect of the songs was written and recorded by actual musicians.

And even taking the lyrics at face value, how is it really any different from what passes for music these days?

I don't know any of the lyrics to "Where's My Sock?" other than the title in the song but it is an actual Beets song, only one of four there was ever mentioned on the show I think along with "Killer Tofu", "I Need More Allowance", and "Shout Your Lungs Out."

In the episode "Doug's Hot Ticket" you can briefly hear "Where's my Sock?" and in the episode the cop they talk to mentions that his own sock was the inspiration for the song.

BTW, It's the Beets not the Beats as you spell it.

Ah, like the vegetable frequently referenced in the show. I guess that makes sense.

Sounds like that was just sort of a referenced song rather than anything the show actually recorded.

It's from the Nick version, it is mentioned by name on the radio before it gets played in one episode, a guy who used to know The Beats tells Doug and Skeeter that it was about his sock. I have seen at least one episode (I think the hairdresser one) where it plays in the background, but it's "Where's My Hat?" that time.

Isn't it, "where's my hair" in Doug Gets His Ears Lowered?

It could be. It's been a while since I saw it, so I may have heard it wrong.

I'll see if I can find which episodes had "Where's My Sock?" in them.
