What is Skeeter holding in his hand?

On the cover of the Season 1 DVD set, Skeeter is holding something in his hand but I can't make out if it's a chestnut or a gumball or what. Anyone know what it is?

I think it's either a beet or a rock and

if it is a rock, who ever made the cover art was thinking of the season 3 episode "Doug Rocks the house" Where Doug throws a rock at Patti's old house

It's a beet. It's derived from one of those promotional images they had for Skeeter for the Nickelodeon series where he's at the Honker Burger.
