Yeah, even though it's largely a humorous episode, there are times when it's pretty depressing. At one point in one scene Doug even mentions that Porkchop is going to be put to sleep if he's convicted.
I have it on tape and watch it every year. Not gonna lie...the scene where Doug remembers the Christmas when he got Porkchop, and the year Porkchop gave him his journal, and then compares the memories to the possibility that his dog will be dead by this Christmas...ugh, it's a real waterworks scene!!
"If you don't have anything nice to say...come sit by me!"
It now reminds me too much of this firefighter murder/suicide that happened on the morning of Christmas Eve 2012, about 5 minutes away from where I live. Doug was looking at Porkchop's igloo surrounded by police tape, as it started snowing. I pictured the families of the slain firemen doing the same thing that Christmas, because it snowed that night. We had to put my dog to sleep 2 days before my birthday in 2012. Not go off on a tangent, but at least it wasn't ON my birthday, but looking back, that birthday still sucked. A couple former "friends" of mine helped put together a surprise party for me at a restaurant. They turned out to be lying, evil b****es. So now that birthday will officially suck and I don't want to remember it.
Like the proverbial cheese, I stand alone. Even while seated.
It was one of my least favorite episodes of the series. I feel like what Pork Chop went through was a little similar to Mrs. Jumbo's situation in Dumbo. I felt they ripped that off a little bit.
Both of them received a severe punishment and that was being locked up. Also, it happened to both of them used but people did not realize they only used violence to protect someone.

Mrs. Jumbo was angry and lashing out at those who were making fun of her son, whereas Porkchop bit Bebe as a last resort to save her from falling in the broken ice.
Plus, the Doug Christmas episode revolved around Doug proving Porkchop innocent, whereas Dumbo wasn't really about Mrs. Jumbo.
