First Ep/viewing order.

Hi,

I'm unfamiliar with the series in detail, but we just bought the complete set.

My understanding is that the pilot was actually held over and shown as the fifth and sixth episode, and is on the DVD as the (double length) fifth episode.

My question is, is it better to watch the Pilot first, or just watch in broadcast order? Were any significant changes made?

(For example, although it wasn't shown first, the second Star Trek Original Series, Where No Man Has Gone Before, makes more sense coming before the rest, as the cast and uniforms were then changed. It makes sense that it occurred before the rest of the series).

I'd be grateful for any thoughts re. The Commish.

I haven't watched the Pilot episode in awhile, but as I recall there's nothing in there that sets up any of the episodes that come after (or before as the case may be) or any details about the series as a whole.
