Clarissa Rugrats Rocko Pete & Pete Alex Mack Doug Are You Afraid Of The Dark Kenan & Kel Sister Sister (not in the same league as earlier nick shows but still addictive)
Plus Nick used to show Visionaries constantly, hell yes!!!
It all ended for me after The Journey of Allen Strange, anyone else watch that??
I agree it is. I remember most of all those Nick shows. The game shows are nostaliga for me Double Dare, Legends of The Hidden Temple (those kids aggravated me to when they didn't know the answer and then when they had to look in the rooms), GUTS was one I loved I used to want to go on the show to get that glow n the dark rock. The TV shows I truly miss.
I was born in 1982 and I lived on Nickelodeon with me, my childhood friends and older brother, and I missed those shows. However, I did something about it. On YouTube and TORRENTS, you can download the entire TV series of classic NICK shows. So I downloaded all of the shows listed below, converted them to MP4, transferred them to a large flash drive, plug it into my Blu-ray player and now I have the entire classic NICK era in a list of choices. So the 80s and 90s NICK will never die out for me. You can do the same thing, but downloading them and transferring them is time consuming.
The shows I used to like from then, and have on Flash Drive TV are: You Can't Do That On Television Clarissa Explains It All - Watching as I type this Rugrats - pre "All Grown Up" Doug Figure It Out - That Summer Sanders was HOT! Double Dare, Family Double Dare, Super Sloppy Double Dare - Marc Summers era What Would you Do? Legends Of the Hidden Temple - I got to see a season 1 episode being filmed during a studio tour looking through a big window. I loved that show even though those kids had me screaming at the TV during the temple run. "No! Go back, go up, turn around" I was literally barking commands at the screen as if those dumb kids would hear me. Make The Grade - I can't believe I'm the only one to mention it on this topic. Phil Moore was cool. Get The Picture - Mike O'Malley was cool GUTS/Global Guts - I would root for the blue team, or team USA. Moria Quark was HOT Mr. Wizard Weinerville - Mark Weiner Kenan And Kel All That! Are You Afraid Of The Dark - It didn't scare me but still enjoyable Saturdays Flipper - Non Nick, but I had to wake up at like 5 AM on school days David The Gnome Eureka's Castle Gullah Gullah Island - With Binnah Binnah My Brother And Me - Too bad they only made like 13 episodes. It was a good show Pete and Pete Secret World Of Alex Mack Salute Your Shorts Wild And Crazy Kids - I liked the Jessica Gaines episodes Finders Keepers Nick Arcade - I never understood how you can be in a video game. If they did it then, why can't we do that kind of thing more now? Hey Dude
Those were the days. I never wanted the golden Nick to end in my life, so I downloaded all episodes from all those above shows and put them on my flash drive so I can watch them off my Blu-ray player. I don't even care if they air on TV again. I was so obsessed with the old Nick that I downloaded the theme songs and put them on my iTunes TV Theme playlist. As I'm typing this, I'm hearing Global GUTS (Do Do Do you have it? GUTS!)
The kids today have no idea with they missed. My aunts 4 kids, all teens keep acting like what they grew up on is wickedly cool. They would go on a fishing vacation and watch hours of Hanna Montana after dark, making all the grown ups suffer. They watch crap like iCarly, Hanna Montana, Club Fred. Meanwhile, they keep on saying the 80s and 90s generation of TV sucked and would argue that for hours to the point that you just want to rough them up, because they are hard. A$$hole cousins!
Seriously I would redo the 80s and 90s over if I could. Oh, wait, I did; I downloaded them and transferred them to my flash drives. Clever!
Personally I think the golden age of Nick ended in 2000. Then again, I was 18 in my senior year in high school, and by then I drifted away anyway and focused on local news at 4, Home Improvement, Married... With Children, Stooges, Simpsons back then.
I thought it was cool that they had a network (Nick GAS) where they would air the coolest TV game shows of classic NICK. I watched it, saying that they finally are bringing back the old stuff. I thought it was real stupid that they took NICK GAS off the air. They do now have Teen NICK which late at night (11 PM Chicago time) would air Rugrats and sometimes a random classic TV show of the old Nick. I mean a few days ago (Nov. 2015) I saw an episode of Clarissa where she and her mother were cooperating bouncy balls to an investor, and then was Rugrats. So if you still want to watch some of the old NICK, you have to be there at the right time and late at night.
I love Ninja Turtles (1987), and I was real disappointed what NICK did to them. I gave it a 6 episode chance, and I drifted away as if I just moved on without realizing I drifted away. So this current Ninja Turtles made me hate modern Nickelodeon even more. They ended my childhood and made a mockery of it with trashy shows.
I think Disney was another network was like Nickelodeon; if was good in the past, but turned after the Millennium, and now all they air is cheap crap. There was FOX Family, which aired some good shows in the late 90s, CBS would air Ninja Turtles '87 Saturday mornings, and USA Network with their Cartoon Express. You just don't see stuff like that anymore. Yes those shows were cheaply made, but I don't think you need all that CGI and fancy technology to make a good show. Look at classic Nick; all shows were low budget shows, but it worked.
That is wonderful that you have or had all those classic NICK shows. I agree most of the NICK shows or the SNICK shows was amazing, everything except Shelby Woo I never could get into that one. I'm happy for this SPLAT they not showing everything they missing Alex Mack and they could show Pete and Pete I haven't seen that show in a while.
Like you I was born in 1982 and I'm forever grateful I was born in the early 80s and experienced the 80s and 90s, kids will have no idea what they missed out on. I wish regular Nick could show our old shows, you right about Disney too I turned to Disney the other day and their list of shows suck. What happened to Little Mermaid TV series, Hercules, Aladdin, and etc they just completely stopped caring about the classic Disney cartoon shows to play this crap on Disney. I wish they could show Goof Troop I haven't seen that series in a long while. Disney stopped being good after That's So Raven stopped showing and that was in 2005/2006 and as soon as Hannah Montana show came in I stopped watching Disney and just gave up. They don't even have ToonDisney anymore.
