I remember this being one of the scariest movies of my childhood,
but at the same time I couldn't get enough of it!
I'm pretty sure that if I had watched this movie for the first time
when I was already an adult it wouldn't have had the same impact.
Which are some other movies that scared you as a child (that were aimed at children)?
The Erica scene when she gets kidnapped is very creepy. The fact that you could see her getting older in the painting as the years went by was always disturbing.
shareThat was exactly what I was going to say. That part is so scary AND very sad. The poor girl crying out from the painting and living out her days alone in there. And the family having to see her and not being able to help her. Quite a nightmare.
Also thought the moment she met the witch and saw that she had on square tipped shoes to show she was in fact a witch was creepy too.
I think children's movies in general were more disturbing back then.
shareI cannot think of any except a rated R movie that I thought was for kids so I watched it as a kid when it came on t.v. It was called Tales From the Darkside: The Movie (1990)
Beetlejuice with Michael Keaton was annoyingly creepy-- or maybe creepily annoying.
Stephen King's It had kids in it who later grew up dealing with it. Pretty scary.
