Roxy Carmichael’s claim to fame is dubious at best, but to the inhabitants of Clyde, Ohio, this juvenile delinquent turned celebrity is the most exciting thing in the town’s collective memory. Now Roxy is planning a return visit.

Surrounded by people who don’t understand her, Dinky Bossetti (Winona Ryder) is Clyde’s present notorious teen, an unhappy loner, artist-to-be and ardent animal lover who just knows she’s Roxy Carmichael’s illegitimate daughter. Denton Webb (Jeff Daniels), Roxy former lover and father of her illegitimate child, is the only one who can really answer Dinky’s question - and he’s not talking. The town fathers are preparing a welcome. The town mothers are trying to spruce up. The high school band is practising a fanfare, and Dinky’s getting ready to leave...

Winona Ryder gives a luminous performance in this moving, humorous and often surreal look at adolescent self-discovery amid small-town morality and sensibilities. Directed by Jim Abrahams (Police Squad, Naked Gun, Scary Movie), the film’s impressive soundtrack features an original score by multiple Academy Award-winning composer Thomas Newman, and the beautiful ‘In Roxy’s Eyes’ by internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter Melissa Etheridge.
