I wonder what Polanski thought of it...
Does anyone know if Polanski has ever given his take on the The Two Jakes? It would be interesting to see what he thought of Jack Nicholson's very extreamly careful directing.

shareRoman was extremely disappointed that there weren't any 13-year-old girls in it!
shareShame on you!!!
- This comment is most likely authentic and fairly close to what I intended to say -
Ha Ha original....loser.
The Nightrider!!! That is his name...the Nightrider. Remember him when you look at the night sky!

Not sure what a 13-year-old girl pimped by her mother has to do with Chinatown, The Two Jakes, or anything else connected with IMDB. Almost every message board on IMDB seems to be plagued by guys like this. I'm sure there's some more appropriate message board or chat room wherein they could while away their time.
Having dealt with the comedian-of-the-year, back to the subject.
Polanski wouldn't have a problem with location. He filmed Tess in France for the same reason (the UK has some kind of reciprocal agreement with the US). No one would like a Chinatown 3 more than me but I think it'll never happen. Polanski has his own ongoing projects and probably wouldn't be all that interested - he tends to move on. Even with another director I'm not sure how far Robert Towne had got with the third part of the trilogy. And Jack Nicholson is probably booked-up for the next 3 years - and let's face it, it really would have to star Jack.

LOL. Good one.
sharehe was at the premiere and said, perhaps politely, it was good but he couldn't understand what was going on - honest and harsh, even to his mate Jack.
sharethreescrewsloose: what a burn!
Omg. I heard Chinatown was planned to be a trilogy, so was Polanski PLANNING to do a sequal/third part to it?
Polanski can't do it because as far as i know he still is banned from USA and he can't make a mivie that takes place in L.A if he can't be there, but I would love to see a third J.J Gites movie.
shareMr Polanski isn't banned from the USA. He's just too scared to step foot there because in theory the police could throw him in jail. He most likely wouldn't, but would you take a chance?
Waiting for:
Southland Tales
Fur
Grindhouse
The LA DA has said that he will be arrested if he returns.
However he could make a film set in LA. It would just be difficult. Remember "Gangs of NY" (Italy), "From Hell" (Prague), "Highlander: The Series" (Vancouver)?
Polanski can mame a film SET in L.A., but can't film IN L.A.
He can't set foot in the states.
Carpe Noctem
Why not? That kind of thing is done all the time.
shareThe third movie has already been made! Sort of.

Wrong answer. The movie came out in 1990. He had already skipped to Europe to avoid incarceration for raping the 13 age girl in the mid-70's. If he sets foot in the U.S., he'll be immediately taken into custody. So there's no way he could've been at the premiere here in the U.S. in 1990.

Dude. Not cool.
Pedolanski? Well i doubt he saw it, teenage girls find these kinds of movies boring!
shareAmazing that people jump the the defense of a known pedophile!
shareNot amazing. He had made some great films and that in my book far outshines his kinky deeds. Besides it wasn't a rape. It was a sex with a minor. Bitch got kinky and *beep* That's fine.

Amazing dude. How funny.
shareI remember reading that Polanski didn't have much of a comment on it other than to say it was very confusing and hard to follow.
In my opinion, that was his way of saying that was absolutely terrible and not true to the original at all.
The beauty of Chinatown is exactly in the line "You may think you know what's going on around here, but you don't.", because in Chinatown the viewer always does THINK he knows what's going on, but then keeps changing his/her mind as Jake does.
Whereas in The Two Jakes, it's a confusing hodgepodge of scenes and plotlines that doesn't really come together until three-quarters of the way through. Thus the viewer is a confused mess at all times and only Jake knows what's going on.
My DVD has an extras feature where Jack discusses making the film and the reviews. He says 'Roman liked it.'
Nervous?
Yes.
First time?
No, I've been nervous before.
