Horrible things happen to the cat on screen, but the DVD bonus features include an affadavit from the ASPCA explaining that these scenes were achieved with animatronic models, and the real cat was treated humanely at all times.

Funny cause I just watched this film for the first time and that was the only aspect of the second story that was memorable and dont get me wrong I love Argento but that story sucked/

I loved that story. Horror is my favorite genre and cats are my favorite animal, so when the two are mixed together, I always get extremely happy. The cat was so adorable and didn't deserve the treatment it got just for a few photographs.
