Tremors is one of those movies i already had seen multiple times on tv but i always seemed to forget pretty much everything about the film but knowing that it was a fun ride.
A small town gradually becomes aware of a strange creature which picks off people one by one. But what is this creature, and where is it? At the same time, a seismologist is working in the area, she detects _tremors_. The creature lives underground, and can 'pop up' without warning. Trapped in their town, the town-folk have no escape.
It doesn't take a lot of time before the worms start popping out of the ground and kill people. Remember Diglett from Pokemon? Well these are some pissed off Diglett's. They terrorise a town, having about 7 residents it must be the smallest town of America. Valentine and Earl are two of the locals and are excellently played by Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward. The chemistry between the two is priceless and provides some very nice scene's and so do some great one-liners.
The setting is dry and dusty and gives a western kinda vibe to it. The same goes for the locals who all wear cowboyhats, tight jeans, a cool belt and a pair of kick-ass boots. Partly because of the great setting and also because there are killing worms, as big as a 18-weeler truck, on the look there is a great atmosphere.
The worms themselfs look a bit cheesy but are still awesome. They are huge, slimey and pissed off. I also loved the pieces of red flesh and guts flying around when they exploded.
Tremors is great pulp and is a must-see for every b-film snob. In fact i think even the mainstream audience will like this one.
