Reba Macintire?


i hadnt seen this movie in years but i was pretty, um, surprised to see ...reba mcentire, you know the country singer, in this kinda movie. was she just starting her career or something? lol.

She's done some acting here and there. She had a sitcom for a while, I saw her as Annie Oakley in "Annie Get Your Gun" onstage, a lot of singers will do that if they can... because acting pays WAY better than singing.

Which is fine by me, she's a likable presence when she's not singing, and she did a great job with her supporting role in this movie. In this film she radiated likeability and sanity, and in doing so, made Burt seem... far less crazy than he could have. And yeah, that's one of the things that I've always loved about this movie, most horror/monster movies would have had the survivalist go off the deep end die an entertaining and Karmic death, but in THIS movie they gave him a chance to put his eccentricities to good use! And his neighbors weren't going to make fun of his lifestyle any more.

According to the IMDb trivia, the director did not even want her to audition because he thought it would be another "gimmicky celebrity cameo". But he was blown away by Reba's audition and cast her immediately without even looking at another audition. She's a lot of fun in this movie.
