why does Kevin Bacon look back on this with disgust?

I hear many times he was embarrassed to be part of this film. Why? Doesn't he realize that it is considered something of a classic? With a huge fanbase?

reply

Not to mention that it really revived his career as well.

Hell after footloose he had nothing but flops until Tremors and Flatliners. I wonder if he gets a lot of residuals from huge video rentals? Not only that, Tremors is celebrated everywhere.

And it's also, in my opinion, one of his best films.

I always wondered the same thing! He NEVER mentions the movie in any interview I've seen of him, but it's my favorite film of his by far. I finally found this interview online that explains his feelings toward the movie:

Unfortunately it came at a bad time in his life, so I think he was just taking what he could get. I wish he loved it as much as we do.

Last I heard he mentioned in an interview he was open to the idea of doing another.

But he wouldn't be the first actor ashamed by being in "horror" movies. I don't recall him speaking about FRIDAY THE 13TH (1980) all that much either.

He must not feel that way anymore since he did the google commercial.

Love that Logitech commercial. Did you notice the lawn sculpture in the front yard of his house. It was a Graboid coming up from the ground.

I recently watched the Friday The 13Th documentary: Crystal Lake Memories which covered all 12 movies in the franchise and tv series and of course it didn't surprise me that Kevin Bacon didn't provide any interviews when they talk about the first movie.

I've never heard that he looks back on it with disgust (though he might), just that he wasn't thrilled about it at the time. To be honest, Tremors doesn't sound like a very good movie on paper. A movie about giant underground worms called Graboids that eat people isn't really the type of role actors are on the lookout for. Little did he know the finished product would be much better than the premise alone, and that it would become an instant classic.

I think Kevin is a little sensitive, but is ultimately a good sport. He wasn't crazy about Six Degrees Of Kevin Bacon at first either, because he thought it was making fun of him. But now he embraces it.
