The Greatest Film of All Time

To any readers out there, and I am sure there are not too many, this is the greatest movie of all time. The proof is that the main reason we go to the cinema is for escapismn. For those brief 2 hours or so we escape our troubles, stresses and forget where we are. Essentially we imagine we are in the movie. We feel what the characters feel, we try to think as they do etc... This movie has a character called Monroe Clark and he is interning to be a lawyer comes from a depressing life somewhere in the US. He tries the sensible thing for a while and then get hooked on the life. Leaves all the long hour stress and politicking etc... for a stress free beach life where he makes money playing beach volleyball and still can be a lawyer during the day. Has a hot girlfriend and great friends. Now in terms of movie experiences and escapismn find any life in movie history better than Monroes.

I heartily agree. In 1990, my volleyball group was just rolling into high gear, we were about to enter tournaments, get into beach vball, etc. This movie came at exactly the right time. Definitely the greatest volleyball movie of all-time.

reply

Er, isn't this the ONLY volleyball movie of all time?

i believe that South Beach Academy (1996, with Al Lewis in it), has a decent volleyball game in it.

I wish I could get hooked on life.

Escape?

This movie is a new reality.

Insanely enjoyable.

I recovered it in a box of many moved things and it was the best surprise all week, granted it was two hours into Monday, but still.

I remember when this came out I wanted to see it because it looked good to watch. When I saw it I thought it was a pretty good movie to watch. Especially if you are into volleyball. I use to see this all the time on USA Network back in the mid 90's and on USA UP ALL NIGHT!

I was glad to watch this on a Friday and Saturday night! It was good to watch.

I agree, it's the greatest movie of all-time for the following reasons:
1. Volleyball
2. It's a low budget, grade b (or is it grade z) movie
3. Check out the cast, it's a who's who in known actors.

I just love this movie. I'm gonna have to buy it, not wait for it to come on cable all the time.

Not exactly but pretty good. I like watching Horton play the beach bum, he looks like he was born to play the role. It is a good escapism film, makes me think of summer and the beach everytime I watch.

The montage where C. Thomas Howell learns volleyball is a perfect montage. Actually all of the montages are superb.

What about all of Rocky's training montages from the first to the 6th film?
