Some dude who's been told he's going to die can't accept it and switches files with another man at the hospital. That's the worst case of denial and betrayal to your fellow man I've ever heard of. But also funny. Lol.

My memory of the movie is fuzzy, but I think the bus driver dies while he's driving his bus and that leads to Burt eventually finding out that he doesn't have a terminal illness.

That should be explanation enough for knowing if the bus driver lived or not. I found the above in the quotes section for this movie on the main page. I always read the goofs and other info before anything else (just for my enjoyment).
The first, and last, time that I saw this movie was about 15 years ago, when it was aired on TV. I wasn't sure of the person who actually died either, I just remembered that the main character was given the wrong results. Hope this helped settle the question of the bus drivers mortality.
