It's funny, I just watched this movie last week for the first time. I was surprised to see that I had stayed in both of the hotels (Hotel Ukraine and Hotel Pribaltiskaya) when I visited Russia in 1987. (A few years before they filmed the movie)
It took me a while to finally watch this film, but I really enjoyed all of the photography in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Beautiful shots by a great DP.
