Michelle's accent

is terrific! I thought she actually knew the language!

She is a pretty good actress. A real pity to see where she is now, if she would be a man she would still be getting good gigs.

I agree...I didn't know who she was when I saw the movie and thought they had cast a Russian woman and my friend told me that was MP...ever since then...she's been my favorite female actress....

Michelle Pfeiffer was never more beautiful than in this wonderful story. Every time I see this movie, I fall in love with Katya again, just as deeply as Barley did.

Accent? How about her whole acting job. I haven't seen her in many films, I guess the only other one is I Am Sam, but I would speculate that she may not have topped this one. Any comments from those who have seen her others?

It's not just the accent, it's the body language, the gestures, the turns of her head, but most importantly, her heart. It just seems a Russian heart, yes, no?

I have seen probably two-thirds of Michelle Pfeiffer's films, including "I Am Sam," and I think her performance here is one of her finest. I can't say she's a favorite of mine because she often seems a bit stiff, though she's always pleasant and watchable. But the accent, mannerisms and subtleties she brought to this role were outstanding. If only the rest of the film were as good.

sounded scotch romanian to me.

MP is excellent in this, but she was quite good in several other movies in the eighties and early nineties. I first fell in love with her in "Into the Night" but she's also pretty good in Grease 2 and Scarface. She doesn't have much of speaking role as I recall, but is gorgeous in Ladyhawke. If you're interested in more of her, you should check out "The Fabulous Baker Brothers", "Dangerous Liaisons" and "Married to the Mob."
