Ackerman goes postal!

I gotta admit, the best part of this movie was seeing Charlie Sheen go postal on just about everybody in this movie. His character Ackerman, is used to playing it straight (ever since the death of his brother) and so he takes steps to go by the book and to ensure that the law is served. But when Nick is kidnapped and his survival falls upon David's hands, David realizes he's gonna have to break every rule in the book to keep another innocent from dying. And boy, David goes through some serious extremes to find Nick before time runs out.

The best part in this movie was him going straight back to the bar that he and Nick went to so they could find Loco. At first, the bartender thinks David is just gonna be a pushover without Nick...boy, was he wrong! David starts a barroom brawl, cracking people with pool sticks, beer bottles, front kicks and even blowing alcohol on his cigarette lighter. He's even cussing up a storm and daring more people to come at him, drawing his gun, shooting up liquor and just setting the place on fire! He even threatens to blow out the bartender's brains and leaving him to burn if he doesn't talk! Man, a real cop wouldn't get away with something like that in real life...not in a millions years! But I like it! After he gets the info, he tosses the guy a coin or something, reholsters his gun and calmly says, "I never did pay you for that beer."

I don't know why, but it was like seeing Martin Riggs all over again. Sheen definitely played the burnt out cop to perfection in this movie. Anyone agree or disagree, please post!

Don't worry I totally agree with you!

reply

I agree, only I think he is cooler and less pretentious than Martin Riggs. I prefer "The Rookie" to ANY of the "Lethal Weapons"!

Yeah, the second bar scene was great.

reply

"I never did pay you for that beer"

reply

Oh snap! So ya'll enjoyed it too huh?! That beer line will always be classic to me. He beats down everybody, torches the place and then pays his tab...that's wild!

reply

yeah, I think that is the high point of the movie. That bartender was such a prick too!

reply

True dat, true dat!

reply

"Come on *beep* LOLLLLL

"It's only hubris if I fail"--Caesar, Rome.

reply

Oh yeah! He picks up a bottle of Vodka, breaks the neck on it and starts pouring it all over the bar shouting, 'Let's have drink! You boys thirsty? Let's have a drink!' and then he sets it on fire!

Ackerman was wild in this film!

reply

crazy time! i like all his witty one liners.

I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said, "... I drank what?"

reply

Sheen did OK, but no-one plays crazy quite as well as Mel Gibson!

I've been in love! Just 'cos I've never been to Zimbabwe to buy someone a cake!

reply

That scene where he goes nuts in the bar is the best scene in the movie! LOL

And with Sheen's real life antics of late, it doesn't even look like he's acting!

reply

he had his reasons. the service was terrible.

today's special: shrimp ceviche!
