hated this back in the day..but now think its pretty decent!
Caught most of R2 last night on TV for 1st time since ..gosh must be 20years at least. Anyway was too young to see R2 in cinemas but either rented or bought the VHS must've been early 90s after seeing R1 on TV and remembered HATING it and being pretty disgusted with the gore/brains and loathed the Star Trek TNG guest star kid and the failed humour attempts to mimic the classic original
But now I didn't have a problem with the gore or the kid.. and just went along with the fun of the lame humour ..also some of the themes were quite interesting and prescient to now with the whole PC culture and politics/corruption (although thats always been a thing). also in the back of my mind kept thinking the director of Empire Strikes Back directed this (which must've been a pretty big deal at the time..it still is) so maybe that made it feel better than it should? idk (back then I either didnt know or care that Kershner directed it) and having Tom Noonan as the villain is pretty cool .. also its obviously superior to the 2014 remake(and is the only proper sequel/follow up to the original in the franchise as it has Weller). Another thing I noticed they had a near identical woman on the OCP team in the remake to the beautiful Dr Faxx in this with the same look/demeanour etc so that was probably an intentional thing with that new character modelled specifically on her
