Randy Quaid

Holy *beep* was he the most annoying character in the history of movies.

Seriously, I just wanted him to die the entire time. Completely unrealistic, no one is that stupid and bumbling, especially someone Bill Murray's character would trust to rob a bank with him.

This movie was awful, and it was entirely because of Randy Quaid.

Know what else is awful? YOU!!

Why don't you just get some exact change and take a bus to another board, CLOWN!

RQ's quirks in this movie were very deliberate. Yes, I hated the character and yes, he was not the kind of guy I would trust (or believe could successfully carry out) on a $1M bank job.

The movie worked on a deeper level because of that, though. When he was flipping out and wailing at the bank, didn't everyone "hate" him and want him out of there? The subtle undertone here is that it really was not a stretch for him to act that way... Loomis even requests an acting critique from Phyllis and she is kind in her response because she knows he is a looney...

As for the character in cinema I would consider the most annoying: Billy Bob in "A Simple Plan."

He was what he was for dramatic reasons, to offset the cool intellectual wit of Murray's character. As we are told in the dialog, he and Murray go back to grade school. So there's an emotional loyalty happening. He also has a sweetness of personality that Murray lacks in this part. Quaid has a history of stealing movies he is in, as in another great movie, The Paper.
