Old magazine interview with Stephen Hopkins after the Predator 2 release

It's great to hear his views on the movie from so long ago, but I do think he was way too harsh on himself and the finished product. As it is, even with whatever was originally cut, it's still a good three star action movie with some very clever ideas!

Steven Seagal is understandable as having been the producers second choice, because he was at the height of his career then, but he was a little on the slim side, despite being tall. I don't know why Stephen Hopkins thought he had a high pitched voice though LOL.

Sucks about FOX making the release date in late November though.

I watched an Arsenio Hall interview with Danny Glover after the movie had been out for three days, and Arsenio was trying to convince Danny that the movie had been a big hit, but Danny was kind of playing along and not really agreeing. Was a good interview for the most part!

Shame the movie didn't do as well as the studio was hoping, because it deserved to be a hit at the box office, and didn't deserve the bad reviews.

In one of the lower magazine scans, it's funny to see Kevin Peter Hall state that Danny Glover was around six inches taller than Arnold Schwarzenegger, which is further evidence that Arnie was never 6'2''. I think at his tallest, Glover was around 6'4'' but not taller, and I've heard Arnold is 5'11'' today, so...

Ah, the 90's!

He later did a commentary and interviews for the 2005 Special Edition dvd and I think he warmed up on the film

Glover is touted at 6'3" and its stated by a big wig of bodybuilding in 70s who is quoted on Arnie being 6'1".5

I'd agree that 6'3'' seems more accurate, but I'll never believe that Arnold was ever over 6'' tall.

Hopkins did a good job on this movie. His direction has plenty of flair, it makes the film as entertaining as it should be. His script let him down a bit, though, hence the "darkly violent" line, but he has a talent for visuals and action that the likes of Michael Bay could only hope of emulating.

My name is Hendry William French

Well said Hendry!

Hopkins really tried to make the most out of what he had, with the budget and locations etc.

It's just as well that they didn't get Seagal on board because then people would have compared the movie to Marked for Death.
