Is there an interview here? I can't seem to get anything but some pictures.

You need to click on the audio play button below the photos, it's just an audio interview.
The news is very good, as the wide demand for screenings of the film could be a decider for Morgan Creek.

Ok, thank you for that. I completely missed the little play icon when I visited the site earlier. I am listening to it now. It does sound interesting, but the silence from Morgan Creek tells doesn't give me much hope. Sorry to be a negative nanny, but as they said, this is all a business and a product when all is said and done, and Morgan Creek just doesn't seem to care about this product at all. I do wish them well and I genuinely hope we get a good release of the extended film some day, but forgive me if I don't hold my breath. Morgan Creek/James G. Robinson has always hated this film ever since Clive made it.

One question, though: Does this new extended cut utilize the reshoot footage that was added late in the game for the theatrical release, or does it exclude those last-minute scenes in favor of the original story? Does Decker still kill John Agar in this new cut? (EDIT: I just heard them say they kept this scene because it worked well) Is Decker still resurrected in the new cut? Or do those things have to removed in order to support the original/alternate sequences?

No, Decker is not resurrected in this cut.

reply

Does this cut still include other scenes from the reshoot, such as Decker decapitating Arnie and killing the girl desk clerk at the Sweetgrass Inn?

Yes.

Although I don't remember seeing the shot where Rachel enters the cell as smoke and puts her fist though one of the officer's chest. (That was a shot in the movie right? I'm not just imagining things?)

Other than that, the only missing shots I noticed were where Lude and Leroy see Lori wandering through Midian (with the awful "there goes the neighborhood" line) and the ending where Ashbury brings back Decker.

Come to think of it, wasn't there a stop motion shot of some ostrich-like creature eating meat in the corrdors of Midian? If that scene was still in there it was of such poor / dark quality that it couldn't be made out.

By the way the stop motion scene of the panther girl riding the giant lizard creature very much looks like a miniature and should not be incorporated into the film. A curiousity worthy of a suppliment section only (in my opinion).

The Rachel/smoke scene was in the the original script and was not reshoot material, so it should be present in the new cut of the film.

Other than that, the only missing shots I noticed were where Lude and Leroy see Lori wandering through Midian (with the awful "there goes the neighborhood" line) and the ending where Ashbury brings back Decker. >>> Interesting...that sounds like a good edit, as I don't like the "there goes the neighborhood" line either. It's cringeworthy.

If that scene was still in there it was of such poor / dark quality that it couldn't be made out. >>> I was under the impression that the newest cut of the film they were showing used footage from the theatrical release when availabile, and footage from the video when it was extra stuff. The little ostrich-thingy eating meat is from the theatrical cut, shown at the very start of the Danny Elfan music track, "Carnival Underground".

I had seen pictures of it before and thought it looked a bit too out there for the film. If there were more of the fantastic in Midian, it may have fit better, but as it stands, the scene seems like something better suited for Flash Gordon.

Tell me, are the scenes of Lori wandering the streets while Boone is jailed, and then being psychically contacted by Babette and shown the death of Ohnaka at the hands of the police in this new cut?

reply

Yes, that was there.

The 2 scenes i was really interested in were not though (the two scenes of Polequin glimpsed in the logo crawl - playing with snakes in bed with Shuna Sassi and the scene of him with the stage 3 jaw)

reply

Do you think it is possible that some footage such as what you mentioned were simply filmed for the opening montage?
