I can't believe I am finally going to get to see this.
I got a ticket for the Chicago screening on Friday the 13th in July.
it is a double feature.
Nightbreed 'Cabal Cut' followed up with Hellraiser.

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?
I was there too.
I wasn't a huge Nightbreed fan and if the quality didn't change drastically I wouldn't have known what scenes were newly added and what was always there. But I loved this version of the film. I'm actually going to go back and watch the older cut, as I wonder how some scenes would have worked at all without the scenes that were added back in.
The screening was great, the theatre was packed, Anne Bobby was there and spoke a bit, though she'd almost lost her voice, but tried very hard. It really surprised me that so many people were coming and going to the lobby while she was on stage. I think there was a camera filming though, hopefully for an eventual DVD/Bly-ray, as if this version is released in fully finished HD, I'd buy it right away.
So since I'm someone who hadn't known so much about Nightbreed before, and hadn't been hanging out for an extended version, I might not be the guy to ask, but it was a really good time for me.
Also, Hellraiser and Candyman (it being Chicago) were a bonus to see on the big screen, but Nightbreed was the main event for me.
Thanks for sharing. I am glad that you enjoyed the extended version of the film, even if you weren't very familiar with the film that was released in theaters so long ago. Do go watch the older cut. It is not a bad version of the film, seeing that it had lost so much material they still managed to deliver a decent cut. Not perfect, but decent. One wouldn't really have realized how cut up it was unless they were a fan and knew the story by having read the novel, read the comic book adaptation, or read the screenplay. In any case, it is always interesting to compare versions and gain insight into how a movie can be cut down and rearranged. Sometimes editing efforts are awful, but I think the theatrical cut did a pretty good job of telling the story after having lost so much footage.
