Not many people have, it's never had a wide release and to my knowledge has only been shown at a few festivals.

Reportedly, it's about an hour longer than the theatrical cut, and is a much more "complete" film. Bloody Disgusting described it as feeling like an almost completely new film. Some of the more noticable differences include:

-Boone going to Midian doesn't happen nearly as quickly and rushed as it was in the theatrical cut, and there's more build-up.
-The characters of Lori and Boone have a lot more material, and are more fleshed-out.
-The final battle is longer and crazier.
-And apparantly there are all sorts of tweaks throughout that flesh it out more.

And FURTHERMORE, this is my signature! SERIOUSLY! Did you think I was still talking about my point?

That is awesome. I cant wait to get this on Blu-ray.

This is great news, I didn't get to see the limited Cable Cut release sI'm looking forwards to coming to blu-ray for my collections.

So either they have located usable film materials for this cut or they are using the VHS quality version and just issuing it as an extra. Either way, groovy!

Be horny.

From 'Occupy Midian':

It varies. Every effort has been made with the footage, but it can only be as good as the source material. The quality ranges from old VHS to DVD quality. The bad quality footage has been digitally altered where possible to make it as good as can be. Though far from Bluray quality, it is perfectly watchable. And as soon as the original negatives can be sourced, The Cabal Cut can be made high-def!

(emphasis mine)

No idea when that was posted, but hopefully they have now sourced the original negatives to work with and that's why they've made the decision to release it on disc.
Agree with you - very cool news, either way.

I was just going to chime in and ask about whether there was any word on the actual quality of this upcoming release. I mean, I have heard plenty about the film's lost VHS footage being really bad quality in spots. If they can get this footage to look good, then I will be a happy camper. I don't need super-duper pristine quality, but as long as it looks clear enough to see what is happening without lots of warbly interference, I'll be fine.

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

reply

Finally, yes!

I've been waiting a long time to see this movie as it was originally intended!

Merry Christmas to me!!!!

I'm hoping I'm proven right after all these years -- that this was cut bad and lots was on the editing floor.

400 pages - and not an original idea! The Name of the Game- 1970
