All valid points. He says exactly what I think about the final act-sans the b-roll footage comment. I disagree with the comments about Boone, Lori and Cronenberg as well. Lori is the heart of the film and incredibly likable. Cronenberg's deadpan is EXACTLY why he's chilling in the role. He's frightening in and out of that awesome mask.

It's certainly flawed even in a 40 minute longer version. It sets up idea's and themes it can't really pay-off, but the ambition of it all makes the flaws go down smoother. It's too unique and confident in it's approach to let the flaws drag it down too much. One of my favorite horror films of the 90s.
