The standard edition of the Director's Cut--with just the DE on blu-ray and dvd--isn't a limited release...

That's true, however you don't get the Theatrical Cut with that edition. It's always handy to have that, as THAT is what is limited to 10,000.

I bit the bullet yesterday and ordered the limited edition on Amazon. I didn't want to spend the money but at the same time knew I'd be smacking myself later if I didn't get it.

Most confounding, frustrating release of the year in that however much the Director's Cut improves upon the theatrical, I know that I'll want the latter version too; I've always liked it, despite...and--sometimes--because of its faults.

But that price tag...

My compromise solution may be nabbing the theatrical from Warner in glorious SD for a couple of bucks...and going with the regular DE release from Shout...

This is my sentiment as well. It's spendy for sure, but I'll regret it later if I don't have it, which is the hook, line and sinker that Scream Factory has for this release I think, but I'll be damned if it didn't work. It's just not something I can miss out on.
