August 23rd

During the radio broadcast while Ben is smoking his last cigarette in the basement. The broadcaster declares the day of August 23rd, 1989 as the day the dead are returning to life. I don't know if it is just my inner-child, but does anyone else think that each year on this date, that the dead are going to return to life just like in the movie?

reply

Wow, we aint got long to go!

reply

Funny, that's actually my anniversary with my girlfriend!

reply

The stupidest thing Romero, sorry Savini (actually, it was probably Romero) was that not only did they mention the day & month, but also the year. They should never have done that.

BTW, congrats on your anniversary.

reply

that's my sisters birthday and the year I was born =/

reply

Why not? I actually like that. It gives me a timeframe in which to put the story.

reply

August 23 is my wedding anniversary.

reply

Today is the day!!!! It is tradition to watch NOTLD 90 on this day!!!

reply

Same with watching Leatherface on scorching hot AUG 18.

reply

Main thing I can't figure out is why the movie was set in 1989 if it was filmed in the spring of 1990 (according to "Box Office/Business").

reply

Hm, I don't know if I hope for that, since August 23rd is my birthday... Well, tomorrow we'll know!
I reacted on the title of this thread of course, but didn't remember that the date was mentioned in this movie (which I looked up today by pure coincidence!). I just thought someone wanted to create a thread to celebrate me. :-)

reply

That's funny...I was a alive and well in upstate NY on that date, and don't remember hearing about any zombie outbreaks. Then again I couldn't get any reception in the basement.
