The history of 'The Next Chapter'

The producers have basically said that it took a number of years to reacquire the rights to the book and to make a sequel. Don't forget that Michael Ende was displeased with the first one. The loss of years meant that the original actors were too old and that they had no option other than to recast. However Noah Hathaway has since said that this was not true. A sequel was originally planned to commence filming about a year or so after the first movie came out. However he fell out with the producers after he believed they screwed him on his contract and he had no intention of reprising the role for them.

Yet wouldn't it have been interesting if they had brought Noah, Barrett and Tami back in their teenage years? It would have been a different sequel entirely.

well, the actors who played in the first one were 11, 12 and 13 when it came out, which means that they would have been 15, 16 and 17 when this one came out. So yeah, they were too old. And Noah Hathaway didn't want to come back because he thought they screwed him and cheated him out of money.

Plus, if delays halted the production, then they should have scrapped filming the rest of the book and come up with an original story. What's the good of trying to pretend they're the same characters when all bar one looks, sounds and even acts different?!

It's made from bits of real panther, so you know it's good...
