Memories returned at the end?
Does Bastian get back all of his memories at the end of the movie?

I like this film, butI remember it always really bugged me when I was young that when Bastian is trying to climb a wall he kept wishing for another step one at a time, and he wasted loads of memories that way. ARRRRGGGGH it was so frustrating. Why didn't he just wish himself to the top? or wish for a set of steps all the way to the top? rather than one at a time. HUMPH.
shareyes this always annoyed me too.
he could have said "I wish for steps all the way to the top" or something. sheesh!!! I can still hear him say "and another!" "and another!"...
:)
Exactly! I just about threw my lamp through the t.v. screen in frustration at that scene. Besides the fact that the first wish was, "I wish there was another way in." Since the steps didn't go all the way, it WASN'T another way in.
That's only a minor quibble though, when you think about the fact that the very premise dictated that all he really needed to do was wish 'for everything to be okay' as soon as he found out there was a problem.

AAGH I'm not the only one ^_^ And nice solution, too, songfighter lol Anyway, I didn't throw my lamp at the TV, but as I was watching this film again after how many years, I was remembering things right before they happened, and it got to that scene and I remember always thinking that that was a stupid waste of wishes.

my too
i wishes every thing was ok.
Two and a half years later, I reply. Yes.... By wishing for what's her face to have a heart, he "filled the emptiness with love." The emptiness was causing him to lose his memories, and he fixed it. They also lived happily ever after...
Disney has the best casting. If he doesn't like an actor he just tears him up.

Yes he does but not the same way he does in the book. In the movie, to regain his memories and go home, Child-like Empress/MoonChild tells him he must dive into the waterfall, overcoming his greatest fear. In the book, Bastion has to dig his memories out of a mine, being careful as to not break any of them.
