What are the beetle-like creatures called?

I was just on youtube, making a playlist of "The Dark Crystal" and the Gothim (sp) resemble the beetle-like creatures in this movie. I've seen NES 2 before, but for the life of me can't remember the name of the creatures in it.

They're simply referred to as 'giants'. In the book, Xayide commands 'armoured giants': giant animated suits of armour, but the filmmakers obviously wanted to make the giants look dead evil. I rather appreciate the eldritch note that they bring to the film visually, although they sure are pathetic fighters!
