Bastians Dad

Im sure other people have questioned this, but I had to get my two cents in about it. Does anyone find it very odd that in the first movie, Bastians dad is some old balding guy with a moustache, but yet in the 2nd film hes this younger guy from Dawsons Creek?? Ive heard of using different actors for caracters in sequels but come on, this was just a tad bit over the top. At least I think so.

Yeah but look at Atreyu in the first movie he looks more white, I don’t know much about the actor Noah so I don’t know if he has native blood in him but regardless the 2nd boy in movie two was clearly of Native descant. The Neverending story movies have never had much continuity in ways of appearance of the characters none of the characters really looked that similar from the first to the 2nd to the 3rd. None of the Bastian looked very similar. They even changed Falkor design in the the 3rd installment.

The father in the first one was Gerald McRaney who was in Simon & Simon and Major Dad.

What's even more stupid is that they have the same exact kitchen set in both movies, so they probably went out of their way to find the old set, or make an exact replica, but they don't keep the same actors?

The original actor should've been brought back. I mean, in 6 years, I don't think he's changed a lot. The thing is, both Jonathan Brandis and John Wesley Shipp were
called for their roles because this movie was produced by Warner Brothers, the same company that produced IT (with Jonathan Brandis in a likely main role) and The Flash (with John Wesley Shipp, who played the hero). Go get your own conclusions.

Yeah that bothered me to how the Dad look younger instead of older. I mean I think Bastian makes sense in a way casue he could be a few years older, but his father looked younger. They could have brought the dad back easily I'm sure he wouldnt have changed much in 6 years at his age.
