The second is by far the worst movie ever made and there won't be a movie that will reach this level of this excrement.

I liked the second one better because it had Jonathan Brandis in it. He definitely saved this movie.
He was an extraordinary actor, very talented, very intense.
I´m so sorry I have to say "was" instead of "is" here.
Rest in peace, Jon. You will never be forgotten.

I thought the first one was magnificent. I watched it a lot when I was a kid, and I still like it today. They didn't vote it one of the best movies of the 80's for nothing.
But as for the second one, it's merely okay, if you ignore the continuity errors and plot holes. But my main aggravation about The Neverending Story II is the Wambos. There's just something not right about using a bunch of toys to fight a squad of metal giants, especially when said toys use fireworks as weapons. I mean come on, fireworks? Why do I get the feeling this is a made-for-TV movie?
And is it my imagination or was Bastian a moron in this movie? Hello, he held up a sandwich in the air. Has he ever heard of gravity?
Once you head down the Dark Path, forever will it dominate your destiny (and you get dental)
Yes, I thought the Wambos were silly myself. And the fact that they made Bastian to be enuff of a daydreamer to absent-mindedly hold a forked sandwich up was too much.
Also I wondered why he faced most of the same problems he had in the beginning of the original, why he didn't remain in Fantasia as a closing narrative hinted. If the 2nd 1/2 of the novel had been told by the same writers who did the 1st, it'd probly be better.
My opinion is that it's OK too. Good, but it doesn't compare with the 1st, which is marvellous - again, you're right: it's no surprise.
At least it did some things right. Look at Neverending Story III!

Now, I haven't seen either the first or the second in a few years
But the first one is where the kid finds the book and reads it and 'sees' it all, correct? And the second one is where he's actually in it (can't remember if he's actually 'in it' in the first, sorry) and there is a part where he's on this boat and the 'water' can burn you?
But if that is so, I enjoyed the second more for some reason
I really liked the second one, as someone above said, brandis saved the movie. He's was a brilliant actor.

Your spelling is atrocious. Don't use dyslexia as an excuse.
I'm not psycho, just a little loopy.

I thought the second was okay, but not on the par of the first. The first film had a disappointing, tacked-on ending, but it had enough magic to make up for that.
I'd really have to see the second film again to form a better judgment of it.
I absolutely LOATHE the third film, though. Should never have been made.
The only thing good about the second was gorgeous Jonathon Brandis.
"First you ask if you can be red, knowing that I'm always red."
I think the second one's really underrated. Sure it's not as good as the first but it's still a really enjoyable fantasy film and so much better than a lot of other sequels out there. Plus Jonathan Brandis is definitely a better Bastian.
shareI hadn't seen it for a few years, yesterday I really felt like watching it again. I always loved the first one, but also enjoyed the second one. There was a making of on television I remember watching. But seeing it again yesterday, I can't help but feel dissapointed. I'm not sure why, but I no longer enjoyed as much as I did a few years ago. Can't just be my age, as I still really enjoy watching flicks like Dark Crystal, NeverEnding Story 1, Labyrinth, Willow etc. It's an okay movie, but for me it will never have the atmosphere of the original.
shareI can't recall the last time i've seen either film, but from what I remember as a kid, I liked both movies about the same.
I'll have to go back and watch these films again (sans terrible part 3) to properly rate them.
Agreed. The first one is amazing but this one is really good too, just not on the level of part 1.
Esta es mi firma
Three points:
Nimbly seeing Bastian's memories and learning he is a part of The NeverEnding Story and it pleases him.
Nimbly, knowing his place in the NeverEnding Story, informs Bastain and 'lives to spy an other day'.
Bastian, having killed Atreyu, wishes his friend back to life and loses the memories of his mother.
All profound character moments.
Giddy-up, goat!
Of course nothing beats the first movie but I do like the second for what it is. It had a nice set design when Bastian first came to the shiny city. The story with the dad was good as well.
