Question about Rachel slapping Charlotte?

Was the slap real or faked? I thought the slap looked and sounded real

Really? Wow! That must have hurt. Poor Winona. She really looked like the wind was knocked out of her or something. Among the most realistic slaps I've seen onscreen. I love this movie so much, especially because of the funny lines but this scene was hair-raising and unexpected in a good way. Great acting from both actresses.

It was an accident. She wasn't meant to actually make contact, but she did, and the take worked, so they kept it.

It was real but accident. You can tell by looking at Cher while Winona Ryder moves to the sofa. Cher is genuinely shocked and breaks her character.
