Will 'Doubt' Get People to Re-evaluate this Film?
Joh Patrick Shanley went back to writing for the stage almost exclusively after this film tanked at the Box office.
His most acclaimed play, Doubt (which won Pulitzer and a Tony) is coming out in movie form Oct. 10. It is his second directorial effort. It is lensed by Roger Deakins, editied by the guy who did There Will Be Blood and Brokeback, and stars Meryl Streep, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, and Amy Adams.
On paper, it is a recipe for success and Oscar notice.
My question: if it is succesful, will people go back and watch his first film? And, if so, will people have a different reaction to it?
