wow, this board did not have many posts on it, i'm really surprised, a relatively modern movie, a well known tale and with one of the most famous actors. i didn't plan to check this out as i always prefer re watching the jack palance version over any other, but i had just seen michael caine interviewed on television, all my life i've loved listening to people who has been in the industry since way back, and frankly they are the masters of the screen, so anyway i got in the mood to watch this after all, i didn't expect much as my old vhs edition of it appeared like a dull tv movie and caine has a way of picking poor movies, like i was so surprised to see him in a 3rd sequel or something to "jaws", so i was surprised this is the biggest setting i've seen taking place of this story, i've only seen old flicks of this tale, i'm sure there are more examples like these in newer movies, and the special effects really look great, and i love caine's subtle act at the part when he talks about the future, which seem somehow prophetic now in a movie from 1989, a future so many seem jolly about, i hadn't heard that dialogue in the other versions, it also includes some fun dialogue, some of it pretty offensive though especially considering it's british. i don't think i've seen any other story filmed so many times, right from the 1920's to this, portrayed by john barrymore, henry hull, spencer tracy, also funny in "ed wood" (1994) how bela lugosi happily answers ed wood "jekyll and hyde? i always wanted to play jekyll and hyde" to later be followed by "eddie... what kind of movie is this...?"

in your study realised ive got no business hangin around,
as i had no idea what you were talkin about,
behind in your school of numbers up and down,
but your knockers bounced my eyeballs left and right,
none the wiser when with class you walked out,
i dropped a degree and my jaw i picked back up.
