Best Vietnam war scenes ever?

I haven't seen this movie for over a decade but I have found bits and pieces on youtube.I thinkmthe few war scenes it has are awesome even better that Platoon or Apocalyspse Now. I think there should have been more scenes on the fighting in 'Nam.

You should probably see the movie. There really aren't a whole lot of Vietnam scenes, and what scenes there are really aren't that great - ESPECIALLY when compared to Apocalypse Now or Platoon.

Although this is a great film, I was just thinking, "Has the OP even seen Platoon, Apocalypse Now, or Full Metal Jacket??"

They are good scenes though, as few as they are. Knowing what's going on, that they're all messed up attacking eachother, etc... It's a whole other mood than simply killing off the enemy, because the enemy here is everybody but you.

We've met before, haven't we?

yeahhh...the opening scenes(the helicopter scenes and the group chatting) reminded me of those movies.

It's interesting... for my own edification over the years, whenever it was opportune, I've asked a number of Vietnam veterans independently what they thought was the best portrayal of that period of their lives on film and without leading any of them they all offered as a first answer that the scenes in Forrest Gump where exactly what it was like.

Just thought I'd share that.
